Connect an AI assistant
Open Connect AI in the sidebar to make a personal key. An assistant that uses your key sees exactly the notes you can open in the Codex, no more, and it stops seeing a note the moment your access to it changes.
Make a key
- Give it a name, and optionally who will use it (for example "Grok Bot").
- Leave Read-only ticked if the assistant only needs to look things up.
- Copy the key now. It is shown once and can't be shown again. The page also gives you the set-up lines for Claude, Codex and Grok.
What a key can do
The page lists every tool a connection gets: search, read and list notes (read), and suggest a change to a note (change). A suggested change never publishes itself: it waits in the Review Inbox until a Codex admin approves it. A read-only key can't suggest changes.
Keep control
For each key you can see when it was last used and by which assistant, how many calls it made today and this week, and its last 20 calls. You can pause and resume it, rename it, revoke it for good, or delete it (once it is paused or revoked). Admins can manage everyone's keys; everyone else manages their own. If your admin switches Codex keys off, the page says so and keys stop working until they switch them back on. Nothing is deleted.
